Basketball Recap: Leyton Beats Potter-Dix for Their 11th Straight Victory

Leyton put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Potter-Dix Coyotes 61-11. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Coyotes are ranked 261st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leyton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zaili Benish out in front who went 11 of 23 on her way to 28 points along with five assists and four steals. Benish's evening made it 21 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Shawnee Gamble, who went 6 for 9 en route to 14 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Leyton's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0. As for Potter-Dix, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Leyton will challenge Minatare at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Leyton's defense has only allowed 24.3 points per game this season, so Minatare's offense will have their work cut out for them. Potter-Dix has already played their next contest (against Hay Springs), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
