Basketball Recap: Mayfield Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Mayfield duked it out withEuclid on Tuesday. The Mayfield Wildcats took a 76-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Euclid Panthers. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Mayfield lost, don't look at Aarav Ganore. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 14 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelo Newman, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Mayfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Mayfield's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Euclid, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-4.

Mayfield will finish 2024 at home by hosting Solon at 7:00 p.m. on December 27th. As for Euclid, they will head out to challenge Villa Angela-St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Villa Angela-St. Joseph is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 74.5 points per game this season.
