Mullen is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Golden 2-1. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Mullen were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Cheyenne Mountain faced Evergreen in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Red-Tailed Hawks' defense stepped up to hand the Cougars a 2-0 shutout. Cheyenne Mountain's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three matches.

Cheyenne Mountain's win bumped their record up to 10-4-4. As for Mullen, their victory bumped their record up to 16-1-1.

Mullen took their win against Cheyenne Mountain when the teams last played back in November of 2021 by a conclusive 4-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
