Softball Recap: Viola's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Viola can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 23-12 margin over the Shirley Blue Devils. Considering the Longhorns have won six matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Dana Wright was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Joey Harber was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Viola's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 27.3 runs over those games. As for Shirley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Viola has already played their next game (against Yellville-Summit), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Shirley, they will face off against Concord at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Blue Devils surely won't give up without a fight.
