Softball Recap: Inspiration Academy Now 17-2 over Last 19 Games

Inspiration Academy came out on top against Lakewood Ranch on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Lions' pitcher stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 6-0 shutout. Considering the Lions have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Elle Hildreth's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alexis McInerney was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Bouquin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

Inspiration Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakewood Ranch only posted a batting average of .095.

Inspiration Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 19 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Lakewood Ranch, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-11.

As of now, neither Inspiration Academy nor the Mustangs have any future games scheduled.
