League recap: Jordan-Matthews win leads to rise in state rank

Jordan-Matthews moved up to 231 from 260 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A Mid-State. The Jets were able to make move up by defeating North Brunswick 15-8.

Eastern Randolph extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Graham, 43-23. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

Eastern Randolph's dynamic duo of Sam Whitley and Paris Martin proved tough for the Red Devils to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Whitley threw for 218 yards and Martin had 31 yards receiving. Rasheem Walker helped Eastern Randolph's passing attack out by catching two balls for nine yards.

Darreal Hamlett was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 355 yards on 27 carries as Bartlett Yancey bested Graham. Teammate Kendrix Walters added to the ground attack by rushing for 66 yards.

Eastern Randolph's Whitley and Tyrell Watt have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 2A Mid-State in both passing and receiving yards. Whitley has thrown for 1558 yards this season, while Watt has 29 catches for 579 yards. Hamlett from the Buccaneers leads the league in rushing with 1943 yards.

Reidsville took down Providence Grove 49-21 last week, the largest margin of any game.
