Basketball Game Preview: Malcolm Clippers vs. Aurora Huskies

The Malcolm Clippers are taking a road trip to challenge the Aurora Huskies at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Aurora will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Malcolm extended their winning streak to nine on Thursday. The Clippers blew past Nebraska City 61-38. The Clippers pushed the score to 50-26 by the end of the third, a deficit the Pioneers cut but never quite recovered from.

Malcolm relied on the efforts of Payton Dolliver, who shot 50% from the field on her way to 24 points along with seven assists and three steals, and Halle Dolliver, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Halle continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Elli Schmidt also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Malcolm was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Aurora hadn't done well against Waverly recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Huskies were the clear victors by a 42-22 margin over the Vikings. The game was the first time the Huskies have beaten the Vikings on their court since February 7, 2020.

Malcolm's record is now 19-1. As for Aurora, their record now sits at 12-7.
