Softball Recap: Becton Wins Going Away Against Lodi

Becton never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on the Lodi Rams with a sharp 16-0 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won seven matchups by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Francesca Buda was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Nina Buda was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiara Ariza, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Becton and bumps their season record up to 9-7-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 3-15 Lodi and 2-10 Garfield. As for Lodi, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Coming up, Becton will welcome Hasbrouck Heights at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lodi, they will square off against Garfield at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
