Basketball Recap: Bethlehem Central Takes Down Amsterdam in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Bethlehem Central walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Amsterdam Rams on Saturday, sneaking past 62-60. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since February 2, 2024.

Amsterdam's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was CJ Miller, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 18 points and six rebounds. Miller is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played. Jude Flint was another key player, going 6-for-13 on his way to 16 points and five boards.

Bethlehem Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points over those games. Amsterdam moved to 14-6 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Bethlehem Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 50-44 defeat against Niskayuna on the 5th. Amsterdam does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
