Baseball Recap: Mountain Pointe Comes Up Short

Mountain Pointe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They fell 5-0 to the Chaparral Firebirds. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Firebirds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-2 back in March.

Mountain Pointe got a good showing from Ivan Lopez, who pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lopez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Mountain Pointe's record is now 2-24. As for Chaparral, they moved to 12-13 with that victory, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.

Coming up, Mountain Pointe will welcome Lake Havasu at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Pride's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Chaparral, they will venture away from home to challenge Desert Edge at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
