Basketball Game Preview: Portal Panthers vs. Statesboro Blue Devils

The Portal Panthers just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Statesboro Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Portal came up into this matchup off a tough 29-point defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Appling County by a score of 52-50 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since February 28th.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Statesboro). They claimed a resounding 75-35 win over Bulloch Academy. Winning may never get old, but the Blue Devils sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Statesboro's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Portal, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Portal was taken down by Statesboro 69-40 when the teams last played last Friday. Can Portal avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
