Football Game Preview: Dominguez Dons vs. Downey Vikings + How To Watch

Dominguez is 0-10 against Downey since October of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Dons will look to defend their home field against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m.

Dominguez is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Mayfair on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Dons lost 42-18 to the Monsoons. The Dons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-6.

Meanwhile, Downey came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.8 points), and they left with even more momentum. They breezed past the Bears to the tune of 40-0. Considering the Vikings have won four contests by more than 38 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Dominguez better keep an eye on Oscar Rios. He was instrumental in Downey's win, throwing for 202 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 84 yards and one score on only seven carries.

Downey didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Warren to a completion percentage of just 44.4%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Oscar Aguilar and Kingston Fasavalu, who each logged one passes deflected. Downey wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 64%.

Downey didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Aguilar and Damani Porras. Aguilar has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last 13 times he's played. Porras got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Downey's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Dominguez, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Dominguez was taken down by Downey 35-7 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Dons were down 35-0.
