Lutheran skates past Cheyenne Mountain with ease

Recap: Lutheran Lions vs. Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks

The Lutheran Lions posted their biggest victory since December 9, 2023 on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 55-25 win over Cheyenne Mountain on the road. Given Lutheran's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Cheyenne Mountain is ranked 258th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lutheran was led to victory by Jayda Vigil and Berkley Schneider. Vigil scored 21 points, while Schneider scored 12 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vigil has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikaela-zoe Colon, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and two blocks.

Lutheran has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lutheran will face off against Resurrection Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Resurrection Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Lutheran likes a good challenge. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they will head out on the road to face off against Fountain-Fort Carson at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Fountain-Fort Carson is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
