Basketball Game Preview: Baker Braves vs. Lee Vining Tigers

The Baker Braves and the Lee Vining Tigers will face off at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Baker slipped by Big Pine 40-39.

Anthony Ortiz continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 for 10 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Baker's points. Another player making a difference was Alex Amador, who posted two points and 12 boards.

Meanwhile, Lee Vining hadn't done well against Immanuel Christian recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Lee Vining secured a 33-28 W over Immanuel Christian. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Baker's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Lee Vining, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Baker was able to grind out a solid win over Lee Vining when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 51-40. Will Baker repeat their success, or does Lee Vining have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
