Recap: Southside Panthers vs. Moody Blue Devils
After a string of seven wins, The Southside Panthers''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 34-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Moody. Southside lost against Moody in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 35-13 score last time.
Southside's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Bryan, who rushed for 59 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Teague, who gained 123 total yards and a touchdown.
Moody's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charlie Johnston, who threw for 201 yards and two touchdowns while completing 81.3% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Blaine Burke and his 88 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Moody's win.
Southside's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Moody, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southside will square off against Etowah on Friday. Etowah is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. Moody will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Scottsboro at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Scottsboro is ranked 59th, while Moody is ranked 75th).
