Basketball Game Preview: Blue Valley Tigers vs. St. James Academy Thunder

The Blue Valley Tigers will head out to face off against the St. James Academy Thunder at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Blue Valley has 12 straight victories, St. James Academy has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Blue Valley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kansas' top teams: Saint Thomas Aquinas, who was ranked 16th at the time (Blue Valley was ranked fourth). Blue Valley blew past Saint Thomas Aquinas 63-38 on Friday.

St. James Academy might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 53-52 to Bishop Miege, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Blue Valley pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points over those games. As for St. James Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.

Blue Valley strolled past St. James Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a score of 65-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Blue Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
