Softball Recap: Page Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

Page entered their tilt with Ganado on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Hornets. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-2 back in March.

Leah Bigthumb made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Those 16 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base.

Bigthumb wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Shanelle Tallsalt, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Tallsalt has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another was Kiera Franklin, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Page was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ganado only posted a batting average of .087.

Page's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.2 runs over those games. As for Ganado, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Page will welcome Holbrook at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Ganado, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Tuba City at 11:00 a.m.
