Softball Recap: Long Beach Poly Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Long Beach Poly lost to Irvine back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Jackrabbits were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Vaqueros. The result was nothing new for the Jackrabbits, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Bella Correa spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Long Beach Poly let Emoni Lam Sam and Bailey Holder run wild. Lam Sam got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Holder went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Holder a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Persja Lam Sam, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Long Beach Poly hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Long Beach Poly is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.1 runs over those games. As for Irvine, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.

Long Beach Poly wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 8-3 loss against Millikan on the 29th. As for Irvine, they have also already played their next matchup, a 14-1 defeat against Rosary Academy on the 28th.
