Baseball Recap: La Junta Comes Up Short

La Junta fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Lamar on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 18-14 to the Thunder. Even if the Tigers couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Calvin Hill was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs while going 3-for-6. Keo Fisher also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

La Junta is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10. As for Lamar, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. La Junta will welcome Pueblo County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lamar, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Buena Vista at 12:00 p.m.
