Baseball Recap: Progreso Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

Progreso won against Varsity Opponent on Friday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Progreso Red Ants walked away with a 9-6 win over the IDEA Quest College Prep Trailblazers. While the Red Ants didn't have the best season last year (they finished 0-19-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Julio Resendez was a standout: he scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2. Ismael Estrada was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Progreso always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of 1.000. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Progreso is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. IDEA Quest College Prep is on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Progreso will venture away from home to take on Santa Rosa at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Santa Rosa has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while Progreso will come in with four straight victories. IDEA Quest College Prep will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hebbronville at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th.
