Baseball Recap: Warren Central Comes Up Short

Warren Central extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-20. They fell 5-2 to the Todd County Central Rebels. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rebels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 back in April.

Warren Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Yordanis Enriquez, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Todd County Central, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-13. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

On Todd County Central's side, Kody Kemp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. Kemp is becoming a predictor of the Rebels' success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 7-12 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Ty Jolly was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Todd County Central is undefeated when Jolly posts two or more runs, but 4-13 otherwise. Hunter Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Coming up, Warren Central will take on Madisonville-North Hopkins at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Todd County Central, they will square off against Monroe County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Rebels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
