Football Recap: Franklin Falls to China Spring in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Franklin unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. The contest between the Lions and the China Spring Cougars didn't end well, with the Lions falling 42-28. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Walker Anderson threw for 42 yards and one TD. On the ground, RJ Fulton rushed for 92 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries.

CHRISHON GREGORY was nothing short of spectacular for China Spring: he rushed for 82 yards and one score.

Franklin and China Spring should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Lions (ranked 70th) will meet Lorena (ranked 203rd) at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th. Meanwhile, China Spring will take on Bastrop at 7:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (89 vs. 443).
