Basketball Recap: Charlotte Catholic Skates Past Garinger with Ease

Charlotte Catholic won the last time they faced Garinger and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Charlotte Catholic Cougars took their matchup with ease, bagging a 78-25 win over the Garinger Wildcats. That looming 78-25 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cougars yet this season.

Charlotte Catholic was led to victory by Jack Siegel and Chris Eagan. Siegel went 7 of 8 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds, while Eagan went 7 of 9 on his way to 16 points. With that strong performance, Siegel is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of King Rhodes, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.

Charlotte Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Garinger only racked up five assists.

Despite the defeat, Garinger saw an underclassman step up: freshman Aaron Lawler put up 19 points. That was a full 76% of Garinger's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmanuel Doster, who put up no points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.

The victory made it two in a row for Charlotte Catholic and bumps their season record up to 12-3. As for Garinger, their loss was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

Charlotte Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-54 win against Butler on the 9th. As for Garinger, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Garinger Wildcats duke it out with the Corvian Community Cardinals at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Corvian Community is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68.4 points per game this season.
