Baseball Recap: West Park Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

It was a proper cat-fight when West Park duked it out with Kennedy on Monday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 13-3 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

David Ortez looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, West Park got a massive performance out of Ayden Deome, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave Deome a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Fisher, who went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases and three runs.

West Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kennedy only posted a batting average of .150.

West Park's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Kennedy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 17 of their last 18 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-23 record this season.
