Baseball Game Preview: Fort Meade Miners vs. Marathon Dolphins

For the first time this season, Fort Meade will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Marathon Dolphins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games Fort Meade has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Fort Meade's tournament run continued when they took on McKeel Academy on Wednesday. Fort Meade fell just short of McKeel Academy by a score of 5-3.

Fort Meade saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Brooks, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 18 runs the game before, Marathon was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They fell just short of Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) by a score of 3-2. The Dolphins haven't had much luck with the Stallions recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Fort Meade's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Marathon, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Fort Meade has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Marathon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7 strikeouts.
