Football Recap: Menlo-Atherton Bears vs. Los Gatos Wildcats
After flying high against Palo Alto last Friday, Menlo-Atherton came back down to earth. The Bears were outmatched by the Los Gatos Wildcats and fell 56-13. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 369th, while the Wildcats are ranked 59th).
Although Menlo-Atherton took the loss, they still got scores from Zachary Sokol and Kyle Gabriel. Milo Lazare also deserves some recognition as he passed for his first passing touchdown of the season.
Grayson Doslak had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 105 yards and a pair of TDs for Los Gatos. That's the most rushing yards Doslak has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Callum Schweitzer, who threw for 170 yards and one touchdown on perfect 7-for-7 passing.
Menlo-Atherton's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Los Gatos, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Menlo-Atherton will face off against rival Wilcox at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Los Gatos is set to take on their familiar foe Palo Alto at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
