Baseball Recap: Roosevelt Takes a Loss

Roosevelt had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 1-4 to make it four. They lost 7-0 to the Orono Spartans. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Teddies were not able to get on the board.

As for Orono, their win bumped their record up to 4-2. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Orono's part, Dane Kanwischer looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Kanwischer a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Keegan Flansburg, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sam Lutz, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roosevelt will face off against Camden at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Orono, they will challenge St. Francis at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
