Preview: Blanchester Wildcats vs. Felicity-Franklin Cardinals
The Blanchester Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Felicity-Franklin Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Tuesday, Blanchester came up short against Georgetown and fell 49-39. Blanchester has struggled against Georgetown recently, as their match on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Felicity-Franklin ended up a good deal behind Clermont Northeastern on Tuesday and lost 59-43. While losing is never fun, Felicity-Franklin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 516th, while Clermont Northeastern is ranked 214th).
Despite their loss, Felicity-Franklin saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Landen Forbes, who scored nine points along with six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Forbes has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Ninichuck , who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Blanchester's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Felicity-Franklin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Blanchester was able to grind out a solid win over Felicity-Franklin in their previous matchup back in January, winning 63-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Blanchester since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
