Basketball Game Preview: Falls City Beavers vs. Sabinal Yellowjackets

The Falls City Beavers will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Sabinal Yellowjackets at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Tuesday, Falls City came up short against McMullen County and fell 50-40.

Despite their loss, Falls City saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Austin Bordovsky, who posted 11 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Dale Shaffer, who had seven points and 12 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Falls City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 11 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Sabinal lost a heartbreaker to Ingram Moore when they met back in December of 2022, and they left with a heavy heart again on Wednesday. Sabinal was outmatched by Ingram Moore and fell 60-33. The defeat continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.

Sabinal's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-8. As for Falls City, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
