Baseball Recap: Yucaipa Triumphs

After low-scoring totals in their previous three game, Yucaipa brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Kaiser Cats on Friday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Thunderbirds' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

The team relied heavily on Andrew Zarate, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jason Franco, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Yucaipa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win got Yucaipa back to even at 4-4. As for Kaiser, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-3.

Coming up, Yucaipa will look to defend their home field on Friday against Vista Murrieta at 3:30 p.m. As for Kaiser, they will head out to square off against Rialto at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give the Cats their first taste of in-conference action this season.
