Softball Game Preview: Hoover Vikings vs. South Range Raiders

The Hoover Vikings will head out to square off against the South Range Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Hoover's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Tuslaw 9-0.

Meanwhile, South Range got the win against McKinley on Friday by a conclusive 18-1. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by seven runs or more this season.

South Range is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Hoover, their win bumped their record up to 9-14.

Hoover was able to grind out a solid victory over South Range when the teams last played back in May of 2023, winning 6-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
