Softball Recap: Pana's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Pana dropped their record down to 15-11-1 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell 4-1 to the Meridian Hawks. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 5-4 to the Hawks when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Pana saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allie Sarver, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Meridian, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 26-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

On Meridian's side, Ashley Schelling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. Schelling has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Shelby Renfro, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Julia Meisenhelter, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

As of now, neither Pana nor Meridian have any future games scheduled.
