Softball Recap: Glenn Starts off Right with Win over Century

Glenn had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Century Centurions on Friday as the Glenn Eagles made off with a 21-2 victory.

Carissa Galvan made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only three walks, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amaya Yanez, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with six RBI, four runs, and two stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Kimberly Diaz, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Century's defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glenn will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Magnolia at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Century, they will welcome Santa Ana Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
