Baseball Recap: Crosshill Christian Victorious

Crosshill Christian took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Monroe, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Dragons 8-6. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Dragons on Tuesday, they had to take a 10-3 defeat.

Miles Lute made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 6.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Hinderks, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tayden Isaacson, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Crosshill Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Crosshill Christian pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Monroe, the loss snapped their winning streak at 11 games and leaves them with a 12-4 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crosshill Christian will head out to face off against East Linn Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Linn Christian Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.13 runs per game on average), something Crosshill Christian will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Monroe, they will venture away from home to square off against Regis at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Dragons surely won't give up without a fight.
