Basketball Game Preview: Holmes County Central Jaguars vs. Kosciusko Whippets

Having just played yesterday, the Holmes County Central Jaguars will get right back to it and host the Kosciusko Whippets at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Holmes County Central sitting on four straight wins and Kosciusko on seven.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Holmes County Central and Ridgeland, and Holmes County Central kept the tradition alive. The Jaguars managed a 60-55 victory over the Titans on Friday. The score was all tied up 25-25 at the break, but the Jaguars were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Kosciusko beat Humphreys County 51-42 on Tuesday.

Kosciusko's win came from a few key players Holmes County Central will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cory Guyton Jr, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds. The matchup was his seventh in a row with at least 20 points. Another player making a difference was Hayes Tyler, who posted eight points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Holmes County Central's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Kosciusko, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
