Volleyball Game Preview: Mt. St. Joseph Academy Magic vs. Downingtown East Cougars

The Mt. St. Joseph Academy Magic will head out to square off against the Downingtown East Cougars at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mt. St. Joseph Academy had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Villa Joseph Marie on Tuesday. The Magic blew past the Jems 3-0.

Mt. St. Joseph Academy walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the third set). The final score came out to 25-23, 25-23, 25-9.

Meanwhile, Downingtown East hadn't done well against Bishop Shanahan recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Cougars came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since August 26th.

Downingtown East has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4-4 record this season. As for Mt. St. Joseph Academy, their record is now 4-2.

Mt. St. Joseph Academy couldn't quite get it done against Downingtown East in their previous meeting back in August of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Magic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
