Football Recap: Arrie Davis Jr.'s Menacing Defense Leads Labelle over Avon Park

LaBelle is still undefeated this season after their game against Avon Park on Friday, but Avon Park came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Cowboys/Cowgirls narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Red Devils 17-14. Those 17 points were actually the fewest the Cowboys/Cowgirls have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Marquay Bradshaw continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 182 yards and a pair of touchdowns. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Christopher Hernandez Jr. did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 90 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: LaBelle was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 207 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 166 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

LaBelle didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Arrie Davis Jr..

LaBelle's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Avon Park, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Coming up, LaBelle will be playing at home against Discovery at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cowboys/Cowgirls will be up against the Spartans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.83 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Avon Park, they will head out on the road to square off against Ida Baker at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Red Devils will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 31 points in their last four games.
