Basketball Recap: Destiny Whiteside Key Part of a Team Effort in Titans Win

Hartselle typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Gadsden City proved too difficult a challenge. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 42-40 victory over the Hartselle Tigers. The win was all the more spectacular given the Titans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Tigers are ranked 13th).

Gadsden City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Destiny Whiteside out in front who went 5 for 11 en route to 11 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Naomi Wise, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards.

Gadsden City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Gadsden City pushed their record up to 13-14 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Hartselle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 22-5.

Gadsden City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 50-23 defeat against Plainview on the 28th. Hartselle has also already played their next game (against Brooks), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
