Baseball Recap: Bellingham Takes a Loss

Bellingham extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-5 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Dedham Marauders. The Blackhawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Marauders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Payton Young spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bellingham saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Sherman, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Dedham's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. The game was the first time they have beaten Bellingham on their field since May 11, 2021.

On Dedham's side, Edwin Rodriguez was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That run marked the first that Rodriguez has scored this season. Jadiel Feliciano was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Bellingham didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-7 defeat against Oxford on the 17th. As for Dedham, they are taking a road trip to take on Cohasset at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
