Baseball Recap: Canyon Springs Takes a Loss

If Canyon Springs was feeling good fresh off their 14-1 takedown of Democracy Prep Agassi Campus on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pioneers came up short against the Moapa Valley Pirates on Tuesday, falling 12-3. The Pioneers have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Canyon Springs saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cruz Monroy, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Monroy is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Adrian Moreno was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Canyon Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Moapa Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Moapa Valley beat Canyon Springs by a score of 15-0 on Thursday.
