Baseball Recap: Reseda Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Reseda hadn't done well against Canoga Park recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Regents blew past the Hunters 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Regents, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

JIM FERNANDEZ made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Reseda let DANIEL VALAZQUEZ and DON BARAJAS run wild. VALAZQUEZ scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while BARAJAS scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was ESTEVAN LIMON, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The victory (which was Reseda's eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Canoga Park, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Coming up, Reseda will challenge Maywood CES at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Canoga Park, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Panorama at 2:30 p.m. on the 23rd.
