Baseball Recap: Yerington Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Yerington, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Everything went their way against the North Tahoe Lakers on Saturday as Yerington made off with a 16-8 win. Considering the Lions have won three matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Valor Angle made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Yerington got a massive performance out of Colby Rowe, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Toby Juarez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Yerington's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for North Tahoe, they moved to 6-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Yerington beat North Tahoe by a score of 10-0 later that day.
