Softball Game Preview: Providence Athletic Club Panthers vs. Greenville H Hurricanes

The Providence Athletic Club Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Greenville H Hurricanes at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Providence Athletic Club is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.

Last Friday, Providence Athletic Club earned a 7-4 victory over American Leadership Academy.

Atalie Gauntt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kirsten Thomas was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Ava Lastinger also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Greenville H sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over St. Joseph's Catholic last Monday. The Hurricanes haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Providence Athletic Club pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Greenville H, their record now sits at 6-4.

Everything went Providence Athletic Club's way against Greenville H in their previous meeting back in March, as Providence Athletic Club made off with a 14-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Providence Athletic Club since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
