Volleyball Recap: Pearl Takes a Loss

Pearl was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 2-0 to the Hancock Hawks. If the Pirates were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Hawks when the teams met back in September of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Zoe Shellwood paced Pearl's offense, picking up four kills. Shellwood got some help from Izzy Watts and her six assists. Calli Thomas and Taylar Walker kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Pearl's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Hancock, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Pearl has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Alcorn Central on the 2nd. As for Hancock, they will square off against Bay at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
