Baseball Recap: Northwestern's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Northwestern had to endure a 12-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the London Red Raiders on Thursday, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since March 18th.

Samuel Baggett was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Baggett wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brody Grimm, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Grimm has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Northwestern's record is now 5-12. As for London, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-7.

Coming up, Northwestern will look to defend their home field on Friday against Tecumseh at 5:15 p.m. The Warriors are facing the Arrows at the right time seeing as the Arrows are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for London, they will head out on the road to face off against Shawnee at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
