Preview: Escondido vs. Hoover
The Escondido Cougars will play host again and welcome the Hoover Cardinals, where kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Escondido will be strutting in after a victory while Hoover will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, Escondido kept a clean sheet against Valley Center. Everything went their way against the Jaguars as they made off with a 3-0 win. The result kept Escondido happy, as they haven't lost a game since January 19th.
They hit Valley Center with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from
Carlos Sorto,
Manny Bahena, and
Aiden Hernandez.
Meanwhile, Hoover's game on Friday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They suffered a tough 4-1 loss at the hands of San Diego. While losing is never fun, Hoover can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 498th, while San Diego is ranked 152nd).
Escondido is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7-5 record this season. As for Hoover, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-12-2.
Escondido beat Hoover by a goal in their previous meeting back in December of 2017, winning 3-2. Does Escondido have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hoover turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
