Football Recap: Clark Cougars vs. Churchill Chargers

After flying high against LEE last Thursday, Clark came back down to earth. The Clark Cougars lost to the Churchill Chargers on the road by a 38-19 margin on Saturday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

Isaiah Santillan threw for 161 yards on 13 of 24 attempts, and also rushed for 46 yards. Elisha Johnson was his top target, picking up 97 receiving yards. On the ground, Xavier Canavis rushed for 102 yards.

Leading Churchill to victory were Kalobe Rond and Hunter Pavlicek. Rond rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, while Pavlicek rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown.

Clark now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Churchill, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Clark will take on Madison at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Clark is facing Madison at the right time seeing as Madison is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Churchill, they will venture away from home to take on Brandeis at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Churchill will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
