Softball Preview: Southmoore SaberCats vs. Piedmont Wildcats

Southmoore has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will head out to challenge the Piedmont Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Last Tuesday, Southmoore came up short against Latta and fell 5-1.

Meanwhile, Piedmont unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Norman North by a score of 4-2.

Piedmont got a good showing from Lauren Moser, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Piedmont saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Cassady, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Cassady is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last seven games she's played dating back to last season.

Southmoore's record now sits at 15-10. As for Piedmont, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 30-6.
