Recap: Twin Lakes Indians vs. North Newton Spartans
The Twin Lakes Indians waltzed into their game Saturday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They greeted the New Year with with a 64-48 victory over North Newton. That's another feather in the cap for Twin Lakes, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Jamison Ousley continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 36 points. The game was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Businger, who scored 15 points.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Evan Gagnon, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Gagnon scored a full 33.3% of North Newton's points, the 11th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Joe Stalewski was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Twin Lakes' win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for North Newton, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-5.
Twin Lakes and Kankakee Valley will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Kankakee Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday. As for North Newton, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Faith Christian at 8:00 p.m. Hopefully Faith Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Saturday.
