With a playoff win on the line, Jefferson Davis Academy rose to the challenge on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Wardlaw Academy Patriots. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by seven runs or more this season.

Colson Loadholt made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Williams, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Landen Williams was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

The victory (which was Jefferson Davis Academy's fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Wardlaw Academy, they dropped their record down to 5-13 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Jefferson Davis Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Patriots: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
